Bloating and Weight Gain During Your Pregnancy

Pregnancy can bring about an unavoidable weight gain. Your clothes get tighter, you always feel bloated, the weighing scale is constantly going up and is show no sign of stopping any time soon. You have to realize that you are getting bigger and it is just a part of the wonderful process of having your child grow inside of you.

Cravings will always come. They are a signal that your body needs that extra amount of nutrition to support your baby. So ladies, this is absolutely the best time to eat anything without feeling guilty of packing on the pounds!

Your doctor will tell you that when you are going to have a baby, or believe to be experiencing pregnancy-like symptoms, you should be taking pre-natal vitamins. These vitamin supplements support you and your growing child.

Your body will be demanding more nutrition for you and that little person inside of you. For example, it is always encouraged to take a multi-vitamin containing folic acid, (a B vitamin). It is importance since folic acid can reduce the risk of having birth defects. You should consult your doctor to know which vitamins you should buy to be sure of the quality.

Several pregnant women also take high quality pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplements. This gives you the essential nutrients of DHA and omega-3 for healthy babies. It has been shown by several clinical studies that diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids will help to provide the nutritional support for a baby’s visual, nerve, and brain development.

A heed of warning though, women should not take flaxseed oil during pregnancy as it can have an effect on estrogen and hormonal levels as soy can. Try to get omega-3 from fish oil instead and not through flax seed. Be careful to avoid bogus supplements when pregnant or nursing. Be sure to talk to your doctor.

Why Do People Always Want To Touch Your Belly?

Have you ever wondered why it seems like everyone always wants to touch your belly when you are pregnant? The moment you begin showing, people come out of the woodwork and want to feel your stomach. And this can be anywhere you go; the mall, your job, a restaurant and especially around other family members.

Has your husband noticed this as well? Have the two of you talked about it and shared your feelings? If not, you should because not every man likes to strangers touching their wife’s belly. It’s one thing if it is another woman, but it may be a bit much if it’s another man.

For kids, well, that’s a whole different story. They tend to get pretty excited and sometimes they may even get too excited and start hitting your stomach to see the baby move.

That brings up an important point. Rubbing your belly is fine, but poking it is not. Poking just flat out hurts.

As you move along in your pregnancy you will have to deal with these situations. Your belly is your own personal space and if you don’t want other hands on it, you should not feel bad in letting others know it. Some women don’t mind and they love the extra attention, while other women don’t want anyone’s hands on them.

Although most people are respectful and will ask if it’s ok, there are always those who will not. And it’s these folks who can drive you nuts! It’s just another part of being pregnant that we all have to go through.
